The Promise of Animal Genomics
Unlike the 16th century proverb that suggests you cannot make a silk purse from a sow’s ear, modern genomics research has made it possible to transform genetic information from livestock, companion animals and model species to improve our lives. Iowa State University has a rich history of research in animal genetics and veterinary medicine. Discoveries resulting from these endeavors have improved the food we eat and have advanced animal and human health. This presentation will discuss the bright promise of the genomics revolution and how it impacts each of our lives.
