1) Global Water Quality Issues and Agrigulture
Electricity is a major energy source for agriculture. Students will learn how Iowa ’s electricity is generated, and why CO2 is released as a result. They will learn how electrical energy is measured, and then they will connect watthour meters and measure power used by electric drills, hair dryers, vacuum cleaners, and other electrical devices.

2) Good Agricultural Practices to Reduce Water Contamination Problems
Swine production facilities have changed in recent years. Today's animal production systems are much larger, and the public is concerned about their impact on environmental quality. Agricultural engineers and soil scientists are investigating the role of swine manure on the quality of surface and groundwater. This lecture will address some of the environmental challenges and opportunities related to this topic.
