1) Iowa Land Values:
Iowa land values have been at record levels for the past several years. The ethanol boom has created a new demand for land and values have risen the highest percentage in recent history. The Iowa land owner is also changing. In 1982, 6 percent of Iowa's farmland was owned by people who did not live in the state, by 2002 non-Iowans owned 20 percent of the land. This presentation will look at land values, land ownership, and what the future might hold for Iowa.

2) Beginning Farmers . . .
Today in Iowa ther are more farmers over the age of 65 than there are under the age of 35. Agriculture has become a capital intensive industry which has diminished the need for labor. As labor decreases so to does the need for beginning farmers. Is there a place in the future for beginning farmers? Can we continue to hold on to family farms where the farm is passed from one generation to the next? Are there strategies that can be followed to allow beginning farmers to succeed? This talk will focus on the options and alternatives that are available for beginning farmers. It will illustrate sucessful strategies that can be followed.
