Horticulture
Horticulture Club President
This year I was president of the Horticulture Club and we grew 1,300 poinsettia plants to sell at our annual holiday sale. The money we raise helps our club members compete in national competitions throughout the United States.
OpportunitiesI completed an internship at a botanical garden and I've taken numerous horticulture courses. Both of these led me to other opportunities in horticulture. I received an internship to conduct corn research with Professor Hank Taber on a project at the ISU Horticulture Research Station. My emphasis is greenhouse production and management. All of these opportunities make me more marketable in the horticulture industry.
Why I chose horticultureI always enjoyed working with my dad, who had a five-acre flower garden. After I graduate I plan to manage a greenhouse and grow perennials.
