Dan Hansen What I like

I really enjoy the atmosphere on the Iowa State campus. The professors are great because they are flexible and willing to make the extra effort to meet their student's needs.

My major

I was greatly influenced by my high school Agricultural Education Instructor, Clint Smith, who showed me the hundreds of opportunities that were available and how diverse agriculture has truly become. Agricultural education is perfect because I can teach if I choose, or easily obtain a job in business and industry. Companies are always looking at ag ed majors because of their general knowledge of the industry.

My goal

I plan to teach high school agricultural education (and/or) return to production agriculture. I grew up on a five-generation century farm, so I have a deep passion for agriculture.

State FFA President

This year I am serving as the State FFA President and representing more than 12,000 Iowa FFA members from 230 chapters. I will work with the other eight members of the Iowa FFA officer team to plan and conduct FFA activities throughout the state. The FFA is much more than "farming." It's about helping students find their passions, whether that is in the agricultural industry or not, and helping those students reach their goals and aspirations.
