I'm a graduate student and I'm currently researching ear and tassel development in corn.

"This isn't work to me - it's what I want to do."

I'm from Kansas City so I didn't know much about corn production but I spent one weekend on the farm in the Agriculture Weekend Experience program. It helped me understand more about farming, which is important in my research.

I also gained hands-on research experience in the Science With Practice, which allowed me to do genetic research as an undergraduate and I was able to continue that research as a graduate student in genetics.

"I want to work for a seed company someday and my goal is to design products that make it easier for the farmer."
